About the artist
Eden Omari is a self taught Watercolor Artist who was born and raised in Brooklyn New York’s Brevoort Houses project in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Everyone in his immediate family was an unsung artist. After several careers and traveling extensively, the artist was accepted into the University of Oregon’s MFA program where an administrative error occurred and his award was rescinded. His first work, Limes on Lemon, received an honorable mention during his first juried show. He then began, in earnest the journey of studying and teaching himself the craft which resulted in the collection of work we see today. He has been an art teacher for more than 20 years primarily in Oregon and California.

Artist statement
I grew up in Brooklyn and Spanish Harlem into a huge family, where as a child, I was fascinated and often in wonderment the colors and sounds and characters in my immediate environment. The broken buildings, the graffiti everywhere, the fabric designs on the ladies dresses and the sounds of the pavement still echo. I remember my fathers line sketches that all mysteriously disappeared and entering those drawing contests found in certain candies. There is a, sometimes, alarming recognition that art is an extension of ourselves and when I finish a piece I am in wonderment of how some of my most harrowing life experiences transmute into visual butterflies.
On this site it is important that that pieces are affordable so that many buyers can garner their first experience purchasing a piece of original fine art. I encourage the viewer to look at a piece 2 square inches at a time to capture the brushwork and the full execution of the work. And to watch YouTube videos on framing and preservation.

Most works after the year 2000 are produced on 100-140 pound cold press archival stock papers. Never expose to direct sunlight and keep behind protective glass/plexiglass. You can find YouTube videos on display and conservation of watercolor paintings.
